The Board of Trade urged City Council support for leasing Ocean Park and building an ocean pier convention hall theatre and modern hotel. A special meeting backed the plan with united votes and announced a Monday open discussion and a committee to present resolutions to the council.
The semi annual installation of officers of To Kalon Castle No 72 Ky G E was held in Odd Fellows Hall with District Grand Chief Otto Morris of Belmar in charge. David William Smith named noble chief with refreshments served after. Plans were announced for theiver cup competition and degree exemplifications at Burbage Castle Asbury Park Corinthian and To Kalon to participate. Dudley and Co advertise paper and writing goods at 174 Broadway.
Maxon Garhart of Long Branch served as best man for Miss Mary K Garhart and Lewis Hartner at Farmingdale on December 23. Both bride and groom are school teachers.
The engagement of Miss Lyllian Welker of New Brunswick to Rev. Harry A. Relyea pastor of the First M E Church at Oakhurst is announced. The wedding is planned for February.
Richard P. Romaine son of Mrs A J Romaine Patterson of Long Branch and Miss Mabel Reid of Roseville were married on December 15 in Newark where Romaine works for Westinghouse Electric Company. Patrick Mulligan aged 74 died at his brother’s home from asthma after a long illness. A native of Ireland, he served as a conductor on the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Road and had lived in Buttonwood Avenue for four years. Funeral from his brother’s house Saturday at nine then mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Burial at Mount Carmel cemetery West Long Branch. Funeral director John Q. Sexton in charge.
Citizens and First National bank bowlers opened with a Citizens win but lost the next two games. The fourth game saw Citizens up by 19 pins. First National clinched the final game and the largest overall score.
The Elberon Horticultural Society held an evening in Townleys Hall drawing over 150 attendees. Thirty tables hosted games, awards numbered 62 were handed out, dancing and music entertained guests, followed by a bountiful luncheon.

The group aims to form a permanent organization, continuing work via a temporary body, using remaining Christmas funds to aid deserving residents after investigation.
City Council acting as a committee of the whole with the Mayor and City Solicitor will meet tonight to discuss a proposal by the Long Branch Pier and Land Company to build a pier and lease Ocean Park for major alterations and improvements. Capitalists backing the project are expected to attend and explain their plans and requested city action before work begins. The proposal was first shown Monday, but lacked council discussion.
James Dean of Tinton Falls and Robert McGrath of Red Bank defeated Walter Ash and Antone Kenger of Atlantic Highlands in a mile race at Frick Lyceum. Red Bank runners led from the start and won easily, with the event originally set for Christmas afternoon but delayed by a storm.
