Taft calls for new United States court of commerce

President Taft sends to Congress a special message urging amendments to the interstate commerce and anti trust laws. He proposes a five judge United States court of commerce with exclusive original jurisdiction over key regulatory orders and petitions. The court would hear enforcement, injunction, mandamus, and other related cases from the Interstate Commerce Commission with appeals to the Supreme Court.

Mrs Hopper Dies From Consumption At West Long Branch

Mamie Wisener Hopper wife of William Hopper of Takawassee Life Saving Station died at home in Wall Street West Long Branch at 2 20 this morning from consumption. She aged thirty six born Branchport daughter of Frank and Jane Wisner survived by husband four children eight fourteen and four sisters and a brother funeral notice to follow.

President J A Stratton appeared before the City Council to secure use of the council chamber next Monday night. The Board of Trade approved the request and held its first regular meeting of 1910. Plans include Ocean Park lease report, pier and convention hall, with public welcome. A Long Branch exhibit at the New York Sportsmen's Show will be planned.

Funeral of A. C. Hicks Tomorrow

Alfred Charles Hicks, a Chicago University medical student, will be buried at home tomorrow in Union Avenue. His death followed rheumatic fever and illness in Chicago. A. C. Hicks was admired by family, friends, and Rutgers fraternity brothers, with services led by Rev. E. Briggs Nash. Private interment planned per family.
