Veteran Circus Man Jacob Showles Dies At 72
Jacob Showles prominent circus owner and performer died after a week's illness at his Third avenue home. Born in 1839 in Germany he built a career with Mable Dan Rice circuses before forming The North American show in 1872. Interment will be at Glenwood cemetery with Masonic rites after funeral services at his home and Simpson Memorial Methodist Church.
