One arrest, Maurice Karateky, accused of interfering with foreman Phillip Jiannine, was made and Karotsky faces a hearing this afternoon. Mrs Wymbs was frightened by a threatening visit from a well dressed Italian, prompting medical care and heightened police concern.

East Long Branch Reading Room and Library Association formed in 1878 and incorporated in 1840. The group opened a Reading Room November 16 1878 in Washington Hall later Broadway Theatre. January 1 1879 an adjoining room was rented for a circulating library. In 1880 the association bought the Broadway and Academy Alley property for 2500 with cash and mortgage notes. Funds raised by members and bequests funded building needs. By 1891 the association planned a library and reading room run by women. The page continues on page eight.
