Abe Patterson's Director Todd, a black colt, defeats J Rose's Sylas Gentry in three of four heats on Broad Street from the schoolhouse to Main Street. The 4 mile course drew about 200 spectators and a $50 prize plus a silver loving cup. About 40 horses sold afterward, with Western horses fetching several high prices.

The funeral of Rev. Robert Andrews Poole rector of St Peters Ellicott City and former rector of St James Church was held at St Peters Church where he served 88 years. The service drew a large diverse crowd including clergy from Howard Baltimore New York and Philadelphia. Burial followed at St Johns cemetery. Poole and his wife planned a golden anniversary if they lived to May.

Man From New York Seriously Hurt Jumping From Moving Train
Solomon Hirsch, a 35 year old salesman for Louis Meyer of Fifth Avenue New York, jumped from a moving Atlantic City express train near Farmingdale station and was severely injured. He lost his left leg below the knee and three toes from the right foot. He was operated on by Dr. John Taylor and others and was resting easily with expectation of recovery. He had been canvassing Lakewood and was en route to Asbury Park when warned by the conductor to stay on board.

Gov Wilson issued a requisition to New York for the extradition of Joseph Ferrara indicted in this county for highway robbery on Jan 26. The 1913 carnival program and city HQ plans were reviewed at City Hall by the Heard of Trade. A five member executive committee was proposed to handle contracts and finances, with separate days for children and dolls, firemen parade, and other events. Richard Henriques proposed using United States Hotel grounds for carnival attractions at no cost, to be revisited at the next board meeting.

OVAG Club Ball a Pretty Affair in Red Bank
About 160 people attended the Brag Club ball in Red Bank held Friday night at the Armory. The Second Troop headquarter interior was decorated with red, white and blue bunting and candles for moonlight waltzes. A buffet luncheon followed and the event ended in the early hours. Patronesses included Mrs. Percy Kendall and others. The Stag Club meets every two weeks at members homes.
