Concrete Stack Upgrades At Long Branch Garbage Plant
The Sea Board Utilization Company is adding a 100 foot reinforced concrete stack at the Myrtle avenue garbage plant in Long Branch. George Covert, secretary of the firm, expects the upgrade to create a sanitary disposal facility equal to the best in the state. A 100 foot chimney will replace the current 45 foot stack, with five feet six inches foundation. The General Concrete and Construction Company of Chicago and New York builds the stack and another for Consolidated Gas. Odor removal equipment and odor filtering for process water are included, plus minor building improvements. Harry Blodgett says the changes will eliminate offensive odors and gases.

Death of Joseph Gilluly in Denver at 61
Joseph W. Gilluly, once a Shrewsbury boy, died in Denver Colorado on February 3 after a seven year asthma illness. He served the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad from 1865, becoming cashier and paymaster and later treasurer. He helped organize the Grand River Railroad and was active in the Denver Club University of Denver and Methodist work. He married E M Lawson. surviving daughter Mabel Hodges and two grandchildren. A sister lived in the East.

Two victims receive Pasteur treatment after mad dog incident
George Minser of Rockwell avenue and Frank Weisner of Woolley and Weisner firm were bitten by the same mad dog that roamed the city. Minser began Pasteur treatment after rabies was confirmed. Battle Still On Madero Refuses to Resign in Mexico City

The Rev. Robert Andrews Poole longtime rector of St James Church Long Branch died at St. Peters Rectory Ellicott City Maryland after a lengthy illness.
