Congress man Bremner dies after radium treatment

Robert G. Bremner editor of the Passaic Herald died in Baltimore after radium therapy for cancer at Dr Kelly's sanitarium. He had been unconscious for about forty eight hours. President Wilson followed the case and Bremner’s death stirred public interest in radium cancer treatment. Bremner, born in Scotland in 1874, had a long career in Paterson New Jersey area newspapers before entering politics.

Delivery car wrecks after steering failure near Broad Street crossing

A Safety Gerh Proof Filter Co. delivery car from Pinehurst New York crashed after the steering gear failed near the Broad Street crossing of the NY and LB Railroad. The vehicle toppled after hitting a railing pole. chauffeur H Pepken escaped unharmed and passenger Joseph Sacco jumped clear. The car, bound for Castle Wall Park Avenue in New York, carried costly plants and palms. some pots were ruined but the palms remained undamaged.

Defendant Wins In Auto Collision Suit

Freehold February 5 verdict for the defendant was returned by a jury before Judge Nelson Y. Dungan in the suit of Emerson Baird and wife and Tunis Conover and wife of Freehold for 3500 damages against Edward F. Larrabee of Lakewood. The accident on the Lakewood Toms River road last August 28 left the Conover car overturned and all passengers injured. The Conovers claimed Larrabee struck their car. he contended Conover's car turned left into his path. Former Judge Wilbur A. Rumson Gardener Found Dead On Steps

John Brown 48, gardener for the ridden estate at Rumson, was found dead last night on a tool house step. Dr D H Earp of Sea Bright pronounced him dead. coroner Harry C Fay issued a burial permit. Survived by widow and two daughters Emily 17 and Carolyn 14. funeral Saturday at St George Episcopal Church Rumson. Brown suffered heart trouble.

Burglars Use Two-Horse Truck in Wine Theft

Five burglars employed a two horse truck to steal five thousand five hundred dollars worth of wine from the Central Consolidated Wine and Liquor Company in New York. Neighbors alerted a police officer as boxes were moved, and investigators noted a possible getaway plan.

Theodore West sustained a sprained elbow after a Running Horse Clothing wagon struck by a car. West was dragged about 100 yards before freeing his wife and stopping the horse. The auto rear was damaged, front axle and knuckle bent, and the vehicle taken to a garage in Longing.
