Lenox Hotel Cottage Fire devastates Lenox properties

A major blaze destroyed three cottages including the Lenox Hotel Cottage in a June fire. Bernard Hartt's Lenox property, the Ferns estate and adjacent homes suffered extensive damage with embers igniting nearby roofs. Estimated loss around 30000 dollars. Firefighters battled a wide blaze as wind fed flames late at night.

Sheridan alleys bowl off in Red Bank rivalry

A two team bowling match at Red Bank decided over three games ended with the second team winning 2 459 to 2 391. The first team blamed missing players for handicaps while the second team included Day Tobin and Sweeney among others. Also notes Hampton family welcomed a son to the household on February 1. Burglary Strikes Little Silver Home Misses Only Childs Bank

Mrs. Thomas B Hasler of Silverside avenue Little Silver reports a three story home burglary. Footprints indicate multiple intruders who forced a rear window and moved through every room. Only a small bank for a child is missing. two revolvers were found. No clue to suspects. The incident led to a slow police response and faulty jurisdiction. Mrs Hasler plans another visit to Little Silver.

The St James Junior basketball team of Red Bank defeated the Senior team in a fast paced game by a wide margin. Frank Street led with scoring as the junior squad showed strong defense and teamwork Tuesday night.

Wreck Plot Nixed As Rail Obstruction Found Near Wickatunk

A 30 foot steel rail, 600 pounds, was placed across Central railroad tracks near Wickatunk to wreck train No 301 from Freehold, but was removed before impact. Engineer Theodore Brown survived a shock. a prior attempt had used ties across the rails, but a boy confessed only in the first case.

Two Convictions in Theatre Case at Long Branch

Walter Rosenyeg and Harvey M. Phillips were found guilty by a Freehold jury of keeping a disorderly house for operating moving picture shows on Sundays at the Broadway theatre Long Branch over the past year. Henry Rosenberg was acquitted by direction of the court. Sentencing is set for next Wednesday.

Three hundred French and English marines landed from the Condé Aga Lancaster and joined American forces to guard foreign property. Leighton Wins Close Greene Trophy Billiards Match

Frank Leighton of this city defeated Rey Wainright of Asbury Park 125 to 118 in the Greene trophy pocket billiards series. The 150 ball match featured lead changes as Wainright narrowed Leighton’s early advantage from 52 to 30 and later to 7, with Leighton finishing by a narrow margin. Funeral services for Chauncy Ayres were set for two o'clock at his Fifth Avenue home, with Hyer & Ploth directing the arrangements.
