Tragic Self Inflicted Death of James Conk at Tobin Home
James Conk assistant ticket agent at Branch port depot died by his own hand at the Tobin residence after a visit to Miss Katie Tobin. The twenty-year-old, described as industrious, had just completed his duties and turned over money to his sister before securing a revolver and returning to the Tobin home. Mrs Tobin and James Tobin intervened, seizing the weapon, but Conk left, planning again to harm himself. He later departed toward his Dudley street boarding house.

Mrs Ann Conklin widow of Joan Conklin and mother of Michael Conklin died suddenly at her grandchild William Conklin's home on Sixth Avenue likely Sunday. Coroner Morris issued a burial permit. A Long Branch resident for years she was born in Ireland. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 1 PM at the house with interment at Fair View Cemetery Red Bank under Hyer and Flock directors.

Worst of Present Cold Wave Is Over
The storm moved from Missouri toward the Gulf of St. Lawrence causing light to heavy snow to Washington. D. C. Long Branch reported the heaviest snow at 3.2 inches while winds reached 54 mph along the Atlantic coast. Temperatures fell to 15 above zero by morning and lingered near 11.5. Cold extended to Georgia Florida and Alabama with lows around 5 to 40 above in southern cities. Forecast calls for fair weather today and Tuesday with a gradual warmup and moderate west to southwest winds.

Fractured arm after fall at local lumber yard
Frank Mazza of Spring Dale slipped on frozen ground at Nichol & Co lumber yard on Branchport Avenue last Friday. He fractured his right arm between elbow and wrist and received treatment at Monmouth Memorial Hospital. Dr. Filice attended. A separate incident reports Mrs. Kruse of Laurel Street being bitten on the right leg by a dog last Friday. Dr. Gremer treated the minor wound. Also noted is Frederick W. Donnelly of Trent announcing a public meeting on Commission Government Friday evening February 9 at Lyceum Public Hall with a grand coral dance to follow on Monday evening February 10.

Sister Mary Josephus Funeral Tomorrow
The funeral for Sister Mary Josephus who died Saturday at the Sisters Convent Red Bank will be at St James Church Broad Street at 10 80 tomorrow morning. Rev Fathers Reynolds Cantwell and Kennedy will conduct with the St James Parish School scholars and church societies attending. Interment will be in Mt Olivet Cemetery Middletown Township. She was born in County Limerick Ireland later lived in Bordentown and Red Bank as a teacher. She was about 38 and died of tuberculosis after years of illness. She is survived by two sisters in the Trenton diocese.
