Plans include a new front, interior and exterior improvements, second floor offices, and a separate Third Avenue entrance from the Denver store for renting. Possible sidewalk widening on Third Avenue may follow.
The Long Branch Library Association hosts a children's party Saturday from two to five thirty pm in Library Hall. Proceeds fund new books for the free reading room. Activities include duets, recitations, songs, and dances with favors and refreshments for children of all ages.
Yesterday the St Luke's Bible School celebrated its Christmas jubilee with over twelve hundred members across eight departments taking part in afternoon and evening activities. The cradle to primary divisions performed recitations and songs, Santa Claus visited, and the main school presented an attractive program with music and candle drill concluding the day.
A stabbing murder near Sea View led to two arrests this morning. Police say the incident occurred on Avenue near Sea View, and investigators are pursuing leads as the suspects are held for questioning.
The Chattle graduating classes of 1912 13 and 14 held a reunion at the Intermedial gym last evening. A brief basketball game between mixed class teams ended with the second team winning 34 to 16. Following the game a dance with forty couples featured a rope dance by Frank Briskey and Miss Ortrude Crum and college yells from attending alumni.
Cecelia Wolter daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter Wolter owners of the Manahassett Hotel Monmouth Beach marries Morgan Woolley son of Captain and Mrs Joe Woolley Monmouth Beach in a quiet eight o clock ceremony at the Asbury M B Church The couple return to the hotel for a light wedding breakfast and will live there Mr Woolley works for contractor William Heitzman of Monmouth Beach A large touring car carried the wedding party to the parsonage and local relatives witnessed the event
Pasquale Legana a laborer died after a stabbing on the highway near the Reservation property on Ocean avenue just north of Sea View avenue. Suspects Joseph Crapella and Rocco Martello, both in custody at City Hall, were arrested by Captain Detective Walling within hours. A blood stained knife marked Hollywood Hotel and a shovel with initial T were found as evidence. The body is at Coroner Sexton’s morgue awaiting autopsy by County Physician Naefle. Lagana had four stab wounds, including a fatal chest wound. the weapon’s exact penetration remains to be determined. The murder, uncovered after groans, follows a month of family dispute and involves Lagana’s young widow Maria Lagana. Continued on Sixth Page.
The Steinbach Company announces an annual white sale starting Saturday with special prices. Their sole store is in Asbury Park and the ad promotes American Lady Corsets at half price along with advance style models for ladies. The notice lists several sales staff and models and notes New Year bowling specials at Philehen's Alleys.
Mrs Mary C Hughes mother of Associate Justice Charles E Hughes of the United States Supreme Court died at her Washington residence. Widow of the late Rev David C Hughes formerly of New York, she was born November 22 1830 in Middletown Delaware County and devoted her life to religious and charitable work.
Oceanic Fire Engine Co No 1 held annual election and honored gifts from Charles A Wimpfheimer of Gladville. A $250 general fund gift and a $260 relief fund gift were announced. New officers include Henry Joline as president for the tenth term and John P Lane as financial secretary for the nineteenth term. A relief committee of five was appointed. The article notes deaths of two long-time members and explains the open house was canceled.
