City Moves to Revoke Theatre License for Sunday Show

City Commissioners unanimously move to revoke the theatre license for the Sunday show. Owner cited to show cause why action should not be taken. Hearing set for next Wednesday as police chief Arrowsmith cites failure to observe state laws.

Public Safety Board moves to revoke Walter Rosenberg license

Commissioner Arrowsmith introduced a resolution directing Walter Rosenberg proprietor of the Broadway theatre to appear before the Board of Commissioners next Wednesday to show cause why his license should not be revoked for alleged noncompliance with state laws. The measure, adopted unanimously, cites notice to appear on January seventh, 1914, and to be served personally or by mail and to the theatre manager, Mr Arrowsmith noted witnesses secured from three locations while denying a big noise over Sunday closing.

Hall Is Elected Health Officer in Long Branch

At a Long Branch Board of Health meeting John Hall was chosen health officer for 1914 at a salary of 1500 dollars. He has a city hall laboratory enforcing the new milk ordinance. Dr J T Welch cast the only negative vote. The board also approved a 1914 budget of 3925 dollars and ordered cattle tuberculin testing after January 10. Woman Dies in Hospital After Shooting Deaths

Nine people are dead after a shooting incident with Joseph Dennis among the wounded. Dennis survived his injuries and is expected to recover as investigators assess the scene and identify victims.

Murderer Still Missing After Red Bank Shooting

Lavinia Taylor died at 7 10 this morning after being shot Sunday night in Red Bank. Joseph Dennis remains hospitalized with good recovery prospects. Police seek Dominic Parano, the shooter, with trains suspected as escape routes. The Italian quarter shows activity but no leads. Funeral arrangements for Taylor will move to Red Bank parlors for shipping to Virginia.

Funeral tribute to Dr. Howard Reed held in Rumson

The private funeral for Dr. Howard Beck Reed, eldest son of Dr. and Mrs. James J. Reed of Sea Bright, was conducted at his Rumson bungalow with family attendance. Rev. Orville S. Duffield and Rev. W. Dutton Dale led services citing biblical balm and praise of Reed’s life and character.

Robbery of Telephone Booth and Peanut Machine at Station

Entry gained by forcing a side window at North Long Branch station last night. The intruder opened the telephone box damaged the cash box lock and removed a peanut machine from the wall. Station Agent Hennessey found the machine on a seat this morning and the robbed telephone booth. no other equipment was touched. The agency notes the station doors were secured at 7 12 pm and the robbery likely occurred late last night or early this morning. the amount stolen remains unknown.
