Clemency Granted to Two Camden Murderers in Trenton
In Trenton on December 24 the Court of Pardons freed two Camden murderers, Frederick Coursey and Harry Duffield, from the death penalty. They will serve 30 and 15 years respectively after being diverted from electrocution slated for next week. Also paroled were Elizabeth youth Thomas Hall Jr for manslaughter, Newark drug clerk William Leist for manslaughter, and Monmouth county residents John Mount and David Williams. Clemency denied to Camden killer Charles Ford and to David H. Brand and John Sykes. Parole granted to Leander Smith.

Veteran officially dead half century alive again today
In Trenton on December 24 Charles B. Fowler a Hopewell printer and Civil War private in Company B First New Jersey Cavalry has been found alive after years listed as dead. With Adjutant General Wilbur F Sadler he secured a back pension of 162 dollars and a monthly 21 dollar pension. Fowler, over seventy, will avoid charity and may enter a Soldier's Home after identity affidavits and record corrections revealed a misattribution with another Charles B. Fowler in Company E.
