Denegar Narrowly Escapes Injury on Third Avenue
Thomas HB Denegar of Third Avenue crossed Broadway and stepped in front of a horse and wagon from Hines and Hammer. The wagon wheels passed over his feet, tearing his overshoes but leaving his feet unharmed. His heavy overcoat protected him as he fell on the asphalt. Hines, driver of the wagon, helped him to his feet and home. He slept well and was none the worse this morning.

Poor Children Enjoy Holiday at Long Branch Theatre
Over 700 children were entertained by the Long Branch Society for the Improvement of the Poor at New Broadway theatre. Italian War Nephew Seeks Captain’s Location in Tripoli

Red Bank Sunday school of Grace Methodist Church held Christmas exercises last night despite bad weather. A fine program of carols recitations and orchestra selections entertained attendees. The orchestra included Miss Anna Valentine, Hibbetts, George Johnston, Charles Hopping, George Spinning, G Foster Spinning Jr., Kenneth Wyckoff, with Olive McColgan on piano. Afterward the Sunday school room hosted a decorated Christmas tree with presents for scholars and candy and an orange given to each child, plus hot chocolate and crackers.
