Joseph Borden of Long Branch Red Bank leash Red Bank area died at his home on Lippincott Avenue after a two year illness. He was 55, born in Chapel Hill. Survived by widow Eliza Chamberlain, daughter Mabel, and sisters Mrs. Louisa Post and Mrs. Carrie Patterson. Funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday. interment at Glenwood Cemetery.

Man's hands blown off in hazardous cap explosion
Fred Sanafow, about 36, of Freehold East Side, was hospitalized after a hazardous material cartridge exploded while he pried at it with a knife. Both hands were severely injured and surgeons Field and Shaw operated. The cap, discarded by an unknown occupant, contained dynamite and was found in the yard. The incident occurred as the midweek First Baptist Church prayer service moved to Friday night.
