Explosion in Middleton mine entombs seventy seven miners

In Clarksburg West Virginia on December 18 an explosion in the Middleton mine of the Consolidated Mining Company near Pairmont trapped seventy seven workers. Two men died and others escaped through a cross tunnel as rescue teams arrived.

Mrs. Margaret Van Cleas Morris widow of Forman Morris of Red Bank died Saturday night at 77 Broad Street Broad Street Red Bank from diabetes aged 79 years six months. She leaves three children Conover Margaret Smock and E E Morris all of Red Bank. Funeral tomorrow at two oclock from her residence with Rev J W Logan of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Manalapan Engineer Forman Dead in Monmouth County

Peter Forman a longtime Monmouth county figure died at his Manalapan home from heart disease after a brief illness. Son of Judge William B. Forman he helped shape estates as a conveyancer and served in the state Assembly in 1882. Survived by a widow and grown family with sisters in Colts Neck, he was a former county engineer and Mason.

Disorderly conduct arrest for Wilhelmina Mattison on First Avenue

Wilhelmina Mattison, a colored woman, was arrested Saturday night on First Avenue by Patrolman Kirby for being drunk and disorderly. Recorder Schoenlein imposed ninety days in jail and a $25 fine, to stand for thirty days in Gefadlt.
