60 Days For Spending Funeral Money For Booze
Jessie James a well known colored offender of Red Bank was sent to Freehold yesterday by Judge Badeau for soliciting money for funeral expenses for Robert Perry and then spending the money for booze. He was arrested at borough hall after visiting Chief Wymbs seeking a note to a colored minister and had used the alias Prank Campbell. The chief learned of the ruse and that James had collected 90 cents and spent it for rum, resulting in a 60 day county jail commitment.

Convictions in Freehold Court Reported at Red Bank
In Freehold on December 18 a jury found James Gordon Bennett and Joan Allaire guilty of breaking and entering the Frank M. Chambers store on Front Street Red Bank and stealing goods valued at 75. Allaire was sentenced to six months in county jail and Bennett to three years. Alexander de Rogatis was found guilty of illegal liquor sale and obscene pictures last August. he faced sentencing next Thursday. John Camus of West Long Branch pleaded guilty to stealing a bicycle and then a motorcycle, with state prison terms from one to seven years. Rose Curran, colored, pleaded guilty to stealing four chickens and was released with suspended sentence. Several others entered not guilty pleas. some were discharged.
