Oldest resident laid to rest in West Long Branch

Brittain Woollley, Long Branch's oldest resident, was buried in West Long Branch cemetery after services at 2:20 p.m. at the Woolley home. Rev. Dr. George H. Neal led and read scripture as more than two hundred mourners attended.

City Board weighs defective school plans after expert review

After a three hour session the City Board of Estimate heard Charles Frederick Rose critique two proposed high school plans. He endorsed Pelton while condemning Walker & Hazard citing wall thickness and fireproofing flaws. A next meeting aims to finalize the funding estimate.

Theodore Howland Elected Master Workman at Sea Side Lodge

The Sea Side Lodge No. 39 A O U W elected Theodore Howland master workman with Howard Shafto foreman and R J Horner overseer at its annual meeting. Other officers named include W K Robbins recorder Perry A Hull financier William J Smythe Jr inside watchman Frank M Chapman outside watchman J HB Lupton trustee L Bliss and Charles H Clark representative to Grand Lodge with Perry A Hull alternate. The new officers will be installed in January after a post meeting collation at Bortz's restaurant. The lodge has 59 members and an emergency fund over 209000. the order provides $500 to $2000 coverage and supports members' sickness needs.

Adah Chapter Elects Officers After Annual Meeting

Adah Chapter No 5 of the Order of the Eastern Star held its annual meeting in Masonic Hall. Worthy Patron T W Arrowsmith led officer installation followed by a turkey supper. new officers include W M McCreery W P Fred M Davison secretary E A Stack and conductress Matilda Howland with several other named officers.

Keansburg Church Sees No Services Amid Quarantine

Keansburg M. B. Church held no services last Sunday as Rev J W Tower avoided the pulpit after quarantine was lifted from his home due to two children with scarlet fever. He expects to preach next Sunday if able. Mrs Miller died suddenly from heart failure late Saturday night. Rev Charles Piler of Goush River may fill in.

Narrow Escape on Trestle at Matawan

Two colored men narrowly escaped death on a Matawan trestle of the New York and Long Branch Railroad. They stepped aside from an south bound freight to avoid an oncoming north bound express, were caught between the trains, and clung to the string pieces to avoid being crushed.

Jubilee Day for Popular Priest at Sea Bright

Jubiliee day opens at Sea Bright and Rumson with Rev Edward J Egan rector of the Church of the Holy Cross for eighteen years. Forty priests and parishioners attend mass and a banquet at Rumson Country Club features speeches by bishops and priests from the region. Death of Mrs Bridget Hare of Atlantic Highlands

Mrs Bridget Hare of Atlantic Highlands died at 41 at her Lincoln Avenue home after Brights disease. Funeral was from St Agnes Church with high mass. J F Morrison officiated. Remains to New York for interment in Calvary cemetery. Survived by two sons John H and George Delaney and daughter Anna Yann Mater. Born in Ireland and came to the U S at 13. Had lived in Atlantic Highlands nearly 20 years. Former coffin from Amsin Posten & Son. Also notes Ushers Union meeting at St Luke's Methodist Church with Councilman elect Mrs Edwin L Reed hosting a social after business.
