Fire destroys Walter Liebmann cottage at Ocean avenue

Fire razed Walter H. Liebmanns handsome cottage on Ocean avenue tonight, with furnishings valued at no less than $30,000. The blaze started on the west side and swept through the structure, threatening neighboring cottages until rain soaked roofs helped prevent spread. Samuel Liebmann’s cottage escaped damage. a downed wire incident injured Laura Slocum and Griffin as firefighters battled the blaze.

Death of Louis Rothenberg At Home

Louis Rothenberg retired druggist was found dead in bed at his Broad Street home this morning. A passing servant alerted his daughter Hannah Elting and doctors ruled the death about an hour earlier. He had long frail health and heart disease, retired from business eight years ago, and yesterday spoke of head and heart distress. Tax notices follow for 1914 taxes at City Hall with extended evening hours.

Young Wins Point in Will Contest

An injunction to stop George W. Young of Jersey City from presenting a 1910 Nordica will to the Monmouth surrogate was denied by Vice-Chancellor Stevens. The judge ruled the court lacked jurisdiction and found no grounds for equitable interference in the probate dispute involving Nordica’s sisters and her husband.
