A 15 year old deaf and dumb girl, Miss Myrtle Bloodgood, was attacked near Monmouth and Pearl streets in Red Bank by Lucy Hughes. A passerby freed the girl, and Hughes was arrested and jailed for sixty days after a hearing before Recorder Badeau.

William Frederick Malchow, 61, longtime Red Bank barber, died suddenly at his West Front street apartment above Blom's delicatessen after a weeks long carbuncle. He leaves a widow Lydia and three children Grace, Wilhelmina, William Jr. also two brothers Frank and Rudolph. A former partner in a Red Bank grocery, he later ran a successful barber business and was active in the Red Bank Local of Socialists.

A heated asphalt can in a yard behind Dr. H. H. Pemberton’s double house on Union Avenue erupted in smoke and flames. A fire alarm from box 2 at Secon Avenue and Broadway brought in seven gallons of paint and a chemical tank from the Independent’s wagon to extinguish the blaze. Horses Rescued As Galilee Barn Burns
A two story barn owned by Ashley Va Brant at Galilee burned Saturday night destroying four horses hay and feed and tools. Firemen from Monmouth Beach extinguished the blaze by eight o clock and prevented spread to nearby boat storage. Fire alarm was raised by local residents Kruesl West and others. A $600 policy covered the barn. property losses beyond the barn were limited.
