Keansburg Opens First Bay Carnival Attracts 30000

Crowds exceed expectations as the Keansburg carnival launches with Salt Water Day events and Camp John programs. A Mississippi of visitors from Keyport Atlantic Highlands Red Bank flood the harbor with steamers trains and motor boats.

Citizens urged to present all bills against the Carnival Committee of the Board of Trade to J H Davis Jr, finance chair, for settlement within the week. Ocean Front Carnival Climax Draws 100000 Visitors

The 1911 Ocean front carnival closed with a three day run ending Saturday night. About 100000 people crowded the avenue for fireworks and masquere on the bluffwalk amid a confetti filled street. Joseph Girome presented a two display fireworks show with medals awarded to both participants. A successful amateur athletic meet accompanied the festivities.

Weather Bureau Forecast for New Jersey

The U S Weather Bureau predicts fair conditions for tonight and Tuesday in New Jersey with light to moderate variable winds. Observations from Long Branch report a 48 North Broadway display station barometer at 30.08 and a last night reading of 80.08. Wind at 8 am from the northwest at 6 mph. Temperature 71 with a 2 degree rise in 24 hours. Yesterday high 78, low 59 and humidity at 90 percent. Heavy reporting: Fort Worth 2.10 inches, Toledo 1.84, Key West 1.54 inches in the last 24 hours.

Robberies Reported Across Red Bank District

A wave of thefts in Red Bank targets include a Friday night break into George Lewing’s house where nothing was taken after intruders were frightened away. Other losses involve Antonio Garbana’s butcher shop chickens, Louis Plate’s store cigarettes, a drug store entry at Shrewsbury avenue and Chestnut street with no loot, John C Aul’s Front street tailor shop missing two suits, and a public callout about colored suspects in the chicken exchanges near Bridge avenue. continued on Sixth Page.
