Ike's Hollywood Bowl rally presses 84th Congress
President Eisenhower rallied 20 000 in Hollywood Bowl Southern California urging a GOP sweep in November to ensure a Republican dominated 84th Congress. He warned a Democratic victory would bring stagnation and inaction while stressing bipartisan support for his record in 21 months in office. The event featured Dirksen Powell and Merriam among others with a searchlight display and a large turnout from Long Beach area communities.
