Peron Threatens Violence as Opposition Protests in Argentina
In Buenos Aires a massive Plaza de Mayo rally followed Peron’s warning that violence would be met with stronger force. He repeated his offer to resign only if it would guarantee nationwide pacification, while urging actions against opponents and promising further violence if needed. The CGT and Peronista factions rallied, a general strike disrupted services, and some workers supported Peron amid tense demonstrations.
