All Western Band Review Parade Winds Through Long Beach
More than 7000 participants from 81 units paraded a mile along Ocean Blvd in the 13th All Western Band Review. Units came from 74 communities with color guard, drum majors, majorettes, and a Long Beach police motorcycle escort. Winners will be announced at 10 p.m. during a dance at Municipal Auditorium Convention Hall. host Long Beach Polytechnic High School band led by drum major Charles Keller.

ONeill Dies at 65 Nobel Laureate Passes Away in Boston
Playwright Eugene ONeill aged 65 died Friday night at his Boston home from bronchial pneumonia. Funeral private. Fire races in Pusan after citywide blaze roars
Three more fires erupted in Pusan Korea within 24 hours adding to the earlier disaster that left 145,000 homeless. Firefighters moved quickly and contained the blazes within an hour near the Hialeah Compound amid packed housing. A rubber factory and about 20 shanties were destroyed as authorities battled the outbreak near the center of the city where the Friday night fire burned a mile-wide swath to the waterfront.

End of World’s Longest Strike At Jim Downey’s Pub
