Farmers Fear Loss If Benson Remains Aide To Eisenhower

In Germany and at Ft. Riley, troops and dependents prepare to sail as 739 enlisted men 8 officers and 25 dependents head to New York for overseas. Republican leaders avoid naming themselves, but farmers push the belief that Benson’s continued role endangers political gains in farm states while urban professionals offer support. Senators Thye Giliani Young Mundt challenge Benson’s policies as critics argue flexible price supports fail to curb surpluses, and farmers link the sliding scale to Benson rather than Eisenhower. Many argue surpluses rise when price supports drop, blaming Benson for not keeping diversion controls on crops like wheat corn and cotton.
