Man fortifies yard as motorists crash through fence
Beckley West Virginia resident 21 Ben Porterfield reports repeated intrusions by motorists on Johnstown Road curve. He built a locust post and wire fence then railroad rails and now an eight foot concrete tank barrier. A Quinwood man smashed into Porterfield's yard Wednesday for the 27th time triggering talk of suing the State Road Commission and city for delays in fixing the curve. Meanwhile Detroit opens its Children Zoo at Belle Isle with a baby orangutan as an attendee draw. In Takamatsu Japan a 40 pound sea lion breaks from Osaka aquarium and swims 90 miles across the Inland Sea before capture, drawing crowds as he is readied for shipment back.
