John Jay Descendants Move Shrine Former Home in Bedford
The 54 year old mansion atop a 600 foot knoll in Westchester County, once home to John Jay and seven generations of his descendants, will be moved from the private residence to become a public shrine. Eleanor Jay Iselin’s death last November prompted heirs, including Arthur Iselin Jr., to open the house to historians who found original furnishings, firearms, portraits and 2250 letters from Washington, Adams, Jefferson and Hamilton among its treasures.
