U. S. to Seek Debt Limit Rise and New Cash Need
Wilmington report quotes Treasury official David M. Kennedy saying the government will need about 10 billion dollars in new cash from July to December to avoid breaching the 275 billion dollar debt limit. He notes tax receipts fall in the second half of the year and a higher limit to 290 billion was previously blocked by the Senate. Kennedy says short and medium term debt has kept banks liquid and supported markets.
