Winds of near hurricane strength drove a vast dust storm across the Southwest reducing visibility to zero in Dalhart and much of the Texas Panhandle. Dust and snow mixed in parts of New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Nebraska and Kansas, with temperatures dropping and schools closed in several counties.
