Police issued an all points bulletin for 12 young men after a Long Beach invasion left two men blasted with a shotgun and a woman struck by a stray slug. Victims Robert King and Monroe Edwards were treated at Seaside and Harbor General hospitals. witness Bettie Annette Scott suffered a scalp wound.

Eureka Area Jolted by Small Earthquake

A minor earthquake centered near Ferndale rattled the Eureka area Monday at 3 33 pm. Seismograph observer Carl Helgestad recorded a magnitude of 1 5 on the Richter scale and noted the quake occurred on a different fault than the December 21 event, felt within about 40 miles.

Five Koreans Shot by U.S. Army Guards in Seoul

In Seoul, five Koreans were killed by three United States Army guards in a restricted area controlled by the 24th Infantry Division. The guards challenged the group three times and opened fire when they did not halt, the Army announced.

Youth Kills Woman for Her Auto in Los Angeles

A 16 year old boy shot and killed Mrs. Whaney LeMasters after forcing her from her car behind a market in Los Angeles. Police chased him for three miles before capture. He claimed to want the car for a trip to Mexico citing fear of parental anger over traffic tickets. The suspect is Roger Kelley, a neighbor reported missing a leg years ago in a freight yard incident. LeMasters was bakery employer and mother to a teenage son and a married daughter. her husband was at Angelu temple services nearby.

City Cannot Pay Damages by Sweeper

Asst. City Atty. Lamb warned the City Council that the city cannot legally pay damages from a street sweeper accident. A resident's $26.08 claim was denied, and councilmen debated moral obligations while Lamb stressed no legal basis or municipal liability exists for damages caused by sweepers.

On the U S destroyer escort John Butler eight crew members were overcome by fumes after a fire in a rope locker below decks. Five crew and three ship firemen were treated at hospitals after being resuscitated aboard the vessel.

Abandoned Newborn Found in Auto at Victoria Park

An unidentified nude newborn boy, 7 pounds 13 ounces, was found in an automobile at 6:15 a.m. by Edward Priest in front of his home. The infant, placed without a blanket, was rushed to Harbor General where doctors said he could have died if exposure continued. Detectives from Firestone Station seek the unknown caregiver who left the baby in the car.
