Young’s Rail Win Certified at New York Central
Robert R. Young was officially certified winner in the battle for control of the New York Central Railroad. The Young slate won by about 1,084,000 votes, with Young’s group averaging over 8,407,000 to the management’s 2,340,000. White will cooperate in an orderly transition. Alfred E. Perlman is the expected successor. Cumulative voting for directors was rejected, as was changing the meeting date. The decisive vote followed a fierce proxy contest among prominent figures including Clint Murchison and Mrs. Wilma Loss. The Young slate also captured all election inspectors for next year.
