Caudle says no instruction from Connelly in tax case
In a St Louis court Caudle testified that Matthew J Connelly gave him no instructions regarding the tax case involving Irving Sachs. Caudle, once head of the Justice Department tax division, denied any motive to stall prosecution and said he endorsed royalty payments to Schwimmer only from his own funds. He reiterated Sachs was an epilepsy patient whose tax evasion plea in 1951 did not merit prison.
