Walker Mountain Lookout in Oregon Describes Primitive Life
A desertion of modern conveniences marks life on Walker Mountain in Deschutes National Forest Oregon. A married couple, a medical student and a partner, live in a glass tower 40 feet above the ground with no electricity or indoor plumbing. They haul water, monitor vast pumice landscapes, and communicate via radio and telephone. The lookout shares fire danger, social hours at night, and a dramatic sunset from the Cascade crest, detailing the solitude and daily routines of their season atop the peak.
