100 Working to Save Boy Stuck in Well
HOPEWELL JUNCTION N Y More than 109 volunteer firefighters worked against time to rescue a 1d year old boy trapped 20 feet down in a water well on a farm. An ambulance and physician stood by while rescuers shored up the well to prevent a cave in. David Ronk, a welfare child in care of farmer Thomas Knapp, was said to be above water and apparently in good condition. He talked with rescuers and, though muddy, appeared not to be in shock as officials described the well as under construction and the boy toppled in when loosened dirt around it gave way.
