Old 1905 Rail Link Revisited by Historic Train Run

A 1905 Baldwin locomotive and three coaches retraced the San Pedro to Salt Lake City link from Los Angeles to Terminal Island on its 50th anniversary run. About 100 Railway and Locomotive Historical Society members rode in period dress, with Long Beach firemen supplying water and a golden spike ceremony at Douglas Junction. The engine, once for the Virginia and Truckee Railroad and now owned by REO studios, navigated near historic routes with a variant path due to 1929 right-of-way changes.
