A 45 year old Pico man, Carl H. Jones, lineman for Stone and Webster, died in a nightmarish 3:30 a.m. Long Beach crash on Long Beach Boulevard. His pickup struck a parked car, tipped, and burst into flames after a gasoline cap was knocked off. Police officers nearly reached him as heat prevented aid. damage to the two cars was minor, and the death marked Long Beach’s second traffic fatality of 1952. The body was taken to Hunter Mortuary.
