Bald Eagle of the Essex Bravest of Korea War
In a report from Task Force 77 off Korea the Essex flight leader Commander Paul N. Grayston is praised as the Bald Eagle for returning from multiple near death missions. Grayston, bald and fearless, flew 195 missions, survived ice cold drownings and a near crash, and was shot down again but evaded capture before returning to his carrier repeatedly. Despite peril, Admiral Perry declares that the bald eagle must rest, yet Grayston resumes combat as February progresses.

Steel Pay Boost Unjustifiable Economist Says
New York February news reports NYU economist Dr Jules Backman testified before a Wage Stabilization Board panel amid a steel workers strike threat. He argued CIO United Steelworkers demands would raise industry hourly labor costs by about 30 percent, far beyond anticipated productivity gains. He questioned union productivity figures and urged wage increases tied to productivity with consumers and stockholders sharing gains, noting tax burdens reduce benefits.
