C-124 Crash Report Blames Neglect of Release Controls
An Air Force accident board found a C-124 Globemaster crash caused by failing to release flight control surfaces before takeoff. The report notes improper manual unlocking left throttle free while other surfaces remained locked, contributing to the disaster that killed most aboard. No blame assigned, but pilots reminded to check controls before liftoff and research is to pursue unlocking mechanisms for locked surfaces.
