Long Beach Sailor Promoted to Vice Admiral in New Command
Francis C. Denebrink of Long Beach has been promoted to vice admiral and named commander of the Military Sea Transport Service. He departs for Washington, D. C., to assume the post, while his wife Fanny and daughter Joyce Ann remain in Long Beach for the holidays. Denebrink, son of Myrtle and the late, Myrtle Denebrink, previously commanded Pacific Service Forces and served in World War I and II. He received the assignment in December 1949 and has a history with Operation Sandstone near Eniwetok. He is a Naval Academy graduate of 1927.
