Stalin View Problem for Ike Regime
Washington AP reports Premier Stalin signaled willingness to meet President-elect Eisenhower, presenting delicate propaganda and diplomatic challenges for the incoming U S administration. Truman favored limited top talks, relying on UN forums, while Moscow sporadically proposed discussions about peace and Cold War issues. No concrete plan exists, and Eisenhower’s exact policy remains undecided ahead of his January 20 start.

He announced church attendance, gift giving, and a 20 pound turkey meal while declining photos of Santa duties. Interwoven notes included greetings to the nation and speculation a Stalin meeting might occur to discuss world unrest. A separate Arkansas Tennessee quake report described a five second tremor felt from Blytheville to Memphis with no damage reported.
