A Queens County court jury acquitted William Brown Jr., 21, of fatally beating his 19-year-old sweetheart Julie Krentzlin during a drunken date last March. The all male panel deliberated 12 hours before the verdict, Brown standing mute as the decision was read.
The American Farm Bureau Federation at its 35th annual convention in New York refused to back private power to supplement TVA. It urged TVA operations not be expanded and supported keeping power within the TVA service area. Delegates blocked a committee proposal favoring private power, citing potential misunderstandings and regional concerns.
