Two Californians Clear Forests With Highball Method
Two California contractors using a novel highball method clear timber lands at Hungry Horse Montana. Diesel tractors pull eight-foot diameter steel balls along a 1800 foot cable to uproot trees rapidly, reducing a 200 acre area in four hours. The pair, Wixson and Trisdale of Redding, project large savings and have contracts to clear thousands of acres near Hungry Horse Dam in 1950.
