Soviet car on display in L A resembles 1939 Ford
A Soviet four door sedan named Fobeza, shown by Los Angeles dealer Stanley Slotkin, resembles a 1939 Ford more than modern designs. Slotkin, who acquired the car from a Helsinki dealer in trade for an English Jaguar, says US diplomats initially barred import but he found a workaround. The car features minimal chrome and a design inspired by older American models, including Oldsmobile cues in the grille and a dashboard echoing American cars. He has not tested highway performance but notes it is powerfully built. He doubts it will draw much attention in Los Angeles since it looks very American.
