Man Who Shot Wife and Fled Surrenders in Wichita
Roy Howard Friend, 30, who shot his wife in Torrance and fled with their two children, surrendered to Wichita authorities after calling sheriff’s officials. He left the children with his wife's parents and said he wanted to turn himself in. The wife, identified as Mrs. Friend, was wounded in the driveway of a friend’s home and is recovering in hospital. The couple had quarrelled at their Torrance address. A warrant for assault with intent to kill is to be sent to Wichita.
