Assembly OKs changes in state care for mentally ill
The Assembly Social Welfare Committee approved two bills to overhaul California's mental health care, funding clinics and stricter commitment rules. Opponents linked the measures to communism, while supporters cited earlier Gov. Warren proposals. If passed, bills would require state aid to counties for clinics and revise admission, with a $233 550 start-up appropriation.
