Club Dénies Slight to Kefauver in May 2 Program
Mrs. Zeta Remiley chair of the Democratic Women's Study Club denies discrimination against Sen. Estes Kefauver’s supporters. She says no candidate spokesmen will speak on May 2, only candidates themselves, to handle crowd time. The policy aims to avoid apparent favoritism and not violate bylaws. Concerns were raised after Kefauver supporters claimed he should be represented, noting Stevenson mentions were allowed previously. The May 2 lineup includes Raymond C. Simpson, Richard Richards, Samuel Yorty, and local candidates. The club urges members to hear Adlai Stevenson on May 10 and Kefauver when in the area. Campaign planning for Simpson, Sanders, and O’Brice is under way with Democratic Councils’ endorsements.
