Missing C46 Debris Found Near Pensacola Beach
Debris from two C46 aircraft missing ten days was found about 15 miles east of Pensacola Beach Sunday night. A Brockley Air Force Base spokesman said a local resident found the debris and turned it over to Florida Highway Patrol until Air Force authorities at Elgin Air Force Base determine next steps. The plane, a civilian contract craft owned by Capitol Airways of Nashville, disappeared around midnight April 1 during a flight from Brookley to Robins Air Force Base in Macon, carrying aircraft parts. Only the pilot and co-pilot were aboard, A. B. Brickey and Richard Merwin of San Antonio Texas.
