Bus placards to fight sexual abuse in San Francisco
In San Francisco a public awareness campaign uses placards on municipal buses to address child sexual abuse. Lois Dolan of the Sexual Trauma Center notes a likely 40,000 victims citywide, with recent reporting totaling only 150 cases. The effort seeks centralized reporting, 24/7 counselors, and a citywide, model program. Offenders are often relatives. trauma often emerges later, and many cases are concealed by family needs.
