Energy conference to shape major Phase of plan

Former Lompoc teen slain and girl attacked in Oxnard

Paul Yenney Jr. seventeen was beaten to death while walking with Linda Fienne eighteen in a dirt field behind a school in Oxnard. Fienne was knocked unconscious and sexually assaulted before being dragged away. Authorities report Yenney's death and Fienne's critical condition as they investigate two attackers.

Brawl case suspect faces hearing in Lompoc court

Randy Paul Spring 21 of 1516 E North Ave faces a probation hearing and sentencing at Lompoc Municipal Court on November 4 for resisting arrest during a September 11 brawl. Spring pleaded guilty at a pre trial hearing before Judge Terrill F. Cox. The other three defendants in the case had continued arraignments.

Housing limit panel approved by Board of Supervisors

The Board voted 3-2 to form a special committee led by Supervisor David Yager to draft an ordinance limiting new housing units, initially for the South Coast and then potentially countywide. Support came from Wallace and Kallman. Hedlund and Fletcher opposed. The board later approved a 4-1 advisory path to countywide submission, with Fletcher dissenting, possibly in June 1978.

Weather Update Fog and Warm Coastal Inland Spreads

Late night through midmorning fog and low clouds give way to hazy sunshine in the afternoon. Temperatures hold steady with beaches near 70 and inland areas near 80. Overnight lows 56 to 63. Tuesday tides show highs of 3.7 feet at 4 11 a.m. and 5.1 feet at 2 53 p.m. lows 2.7 feet at 8 45 a.m. and 0.2 feet at 10 35 p.m.

City Administrator Gene Wahlers will present a compromise plan to close a 73 000 dollar gap between a 350 000 dollar estimate and a 423 750 dollar low bid for a 7000 square foot Lompoc fire station. Two Santa Barbara bidders, Don Greene Contractor Inc and J W Bailey Co, lead.
