Fireman Apprentice John H. Clancy of Lompoc digits aboard the USS Kearsarge. The carrier plans a September return to Long Beach after a five month Western Pacific deployment with the U.S. Seventh Fleet. It served as an anti submarine warfare carrier in Southeast Asian waters before deactivation. The Kearsarge was commissioned in New York City in 1946.
