Toastmasters Host Dinner for Ladies Night at Lompoc Club

Lompoc Toastmasters Club 2969 held a Ladies Night dinner with speeches judged for evaluation. John Dolence Sonny Wickliffe and Barry Hughes competed with Barry Hughes taking first place. J L Massey was best evaluator and Jay Percival won best table topics. President Joe Salazar thanked guests and praised the evening's speakers.

Scouts Gear Up For Annual Fall Round-Up Across Districts

The All-Stars Want You Join the Scouts campaign leads the fall round-up with Claude Osteen of the Dodgers as national chair and Lorenzo Dall'Armi directing Santa Barbara County recruitment. Sign-ups run mid-September to late October at 7:30 p.m. for 15 Cub and Webelos packs and 13 Boy Scout troops, with ages 8 to 11.

WW I Auxiliary hosts Vets district commander

Veterans of World War I hosted a September potluck luncheon in Memorial Hall with honors for Edmund B. Graiewski, commander of the 7th District and Poinsettia Barracks, plus remarks on the California state convention in Santa Rosa. The group noted pension bill advocacy, hospital gifts, and forthcoming district and local events.
